I graduated from Bournemouth College of Art in 1962 with a National Diploma in Design, specialising in sculpture and pottery. I then spent over ten years in the film industry, beginning with two years working for Gerry Anderson on Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet and Joe 90. I went on to work at MGM studios as assistant director for several films and television series, including: Jason King, UFO and the Producers.
After a spell working in the city I returned to my craft roots and set up a business making bespoke furniture. I have now come full circle back to my love of pottery. My style is based on traditional forms and design, with glazes and decoration drawn from nature, especially the South Downs.
I am influenced by the ethos of the Arts and Crafts Movement – my aim is to make things that are both useful and beautiful.
I work from my studio in my garden in Hailsham, East Sussex in sight of the South Downs.
The craft is in the making of it;
The art is in making it beautiful.
